KWN 2008 Asia-Pacific Regional Awards Ceremony
The 2008 Kid Witness News Asia-Pacific Regional Awards Ceremony was held in Kota Kinabalu, the capital of Sabah State in Malaysia. The Ceremony was honored by the presence of Datuk Masidi Manjun, Sabah’s Minister of Tourism, Culture and Environment, and was attended by students from KWN participating schools representing Malaysia and five other countries in the Asia-Pacific region. In his address, Minister Masidi welcomed Panasonic’s efforts to bring together young people from all around the world through environmental and other activities. Next, the judges commented on the videos, then announced the awards. These are the entries selected for awards in the 2008 Asia-Pacific Regional Contest out of 205 entries from participating schools in seven countries. The seven national award-winning videos will be entered in the Global Contest 2009. The day after the Awards Ceremony, the students went to see a mangrove forest. They planted mangrove trees to help save the rain forest, which is shrinking year by year. No one minded wading up to their knees in mud as they happily planted the mangrove saplings.
